The Trump administration’s deep cuts to health and public health and assaults on science-based policy are already being felt across the country—from Medicaid, research and staffing cuts to attacks on vaccines, immigrant health, reproductive and LGBTQ+ health care. On Thursday, September 24, health and public health workers and researchers across the country are coming together to say “enough is enough.”
The ask is simple: gather outside or near the institutions where you work or study and take a stand. Start small with a few friends and colleagues with signs, or bring together patients, unions, families and community groups for a larger event. Big or small, you choose the focus. We’ll be here to help you make it happen.
WHY WE’RE MOBILIZING
- Medicaid and ACA cuts – patients, hospitals and clinics at risk. Attacks on science and research like political litmus tests for grants.
- Spreading misinformation and pseudoscience.
- Attacks on foreign-born health workers and patients.
- Racist, misogynistic, and anti-LGBTQ attacks.
- Public health cutbacks.
- Reversing environmental and occupational health protections.
- Assaults on free speech and academic freedom.
- Attacks on voting protections and our democracy as a whole.
And that’s just part of it. We’ve designed this day of action to fit to every type of attack that health and public health workers are witness to.
